Basketball Recap: Franklin Central Falls Despite Big Games from Riley Mcnamara and Shannon Kingsbury

Franklin Central was the 47-32 winner over Stamford Central when they last played one another back in February of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Franklin Central Purple Devils lost 53-28 to the Stamford Central Indians on Friday. The Purple Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-9.

Despite the defeat, Franklin Central had strong showings from Shannon Kingsbury, who posted 12 points along with six steals and five boards, and Riley McNamara, who earned ten points and three steals. Kingsbury has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played.

Even though they lost, Franklin Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Franklin Central now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Stamford Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Franklin Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Worcester at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Stamford Central will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against Gilboa-Conesville Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
