Baseball Recap: Homestead Takes a Loss

Homestead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 5-2 to the Wilcox Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 on Wednesday.

Andrew Sun made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Homestead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-11 when he doesn't).

Homestead's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Wilcox, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Homestead will face off against Fremont at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 4, the Firebirds 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Wilcox, they will challenge Evergreen Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
