Recap: Notre Dame Academy Gators vs. Maria Regina Tigers
The Notre Dame Academy Gators had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They strolled past Maria Regina with points to spare, taking the game 62-46. That's another feather in the cap for Notre Dame Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Notre Dame Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sabrina Kraker, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The match was Kraker's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Caitlin Sweeney was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Notre Dame Academy's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Maria Regina, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Notre Dame Academy will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against St. John's Prep at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. John's Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Notre Dame Academy is ranked 98th). Maria Regina will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Edmund Prep at 1:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
