Basketball Recap: Green City Takes a Loss

If Green City was feeling good fresh off their 70-38 takedown of Schuyler County last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Green City Gophers took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Missouri HomeSchool Knights. The Gophers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Green City lost on Friday, don't look at Jaryn Hatcher. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 36.8% of Green City's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Crist, who went 8 for 17 on her way to 18 points and eight boards.

Green City's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for North Missouri HomeSchool, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

Coming up, Green City will face off against Linn County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Missouri HomeSchool, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Mid-Missouri HomeSchool at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
