            If Elmira was riding high  fresh off their  56-29 takedown of Ithaca last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Elmira Express took a hard  73-58 fall against the Binghamton Patriots on Monday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game  last Wednesday (56), the Express still had to take the loss.

 Elmira's  defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of  Addison Taft, who  went 8 for 13  en route to 19  points, and  Mariah Matias, who  dropped  a double-double with 20 points and 11  boards. Matias is  crushing it when it comes to  rebounds: she's   pulled down at least eight every time she's  taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was  Ashaya Wallace, who  posted eight points in addition to five  boards and five  steals.
Elmira's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Binghamton, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record  this season.
 The future could be bright for both Elmira and Binghamton: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Elmira will try to hand Corning-Painted Post their seventh-straight  defeat when the two meet  at 7:15  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Binghamton will look to extend Vestal's six-game losing streak when the meet  at 7:15  p.m.  on Wednesday.
