Basketball Game Preview: Fredericksburg Billies vs. La Vega Pirates

The Fredericksburg Billies will square off against the La Vega Pirates on Monday. Fredericksburg will be looking to extend their current 22-game winning streak.

Fredericksburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 33-23 victory over Davenport. Given the Billies' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Wolves are ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, La Vega entered their tilt with China Spring on Thursday with 13 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 14. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 56-33 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 20 points or more this season.

Fredericksburg better keep an eye on Angela Carroll. She was instrumental in La Vega's win, going 6-for-9 on her way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cra'Lajah Bradley, who posted four points in addition to nine steals and six rebounds.

La Vega smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive matches.

Fredericksburg's record is now 31-6. As for La Vega, their record now sits at an identical 31-6.

Fredericksburg came up short against La Vega when the teams last played back in November of 2023, falling 57-48. Can Fredericksburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
