Volleyball Recap: Modesto Panthers vs. Pitman Pride
Modesto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Pitman Pride, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pride this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
Modesto was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 13 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-13, 25-13.
Bria Eastman paced Modesto's offense, picking up seven kills. Eastman got some help from Isabella Pires and her six assists.
Pitman found their leader in sophomore Izabella Ziencina, who had six digs and five aces. Ziencina is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Jahnvi Dhillon was another key player, getting 12 digs.
Modesto's loss dropped their record down to 7-24. As for Pitman, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.
Modesto will head out on the road to challenge Gregori at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pitman, they will be taking part in a tournament against Rio Americano at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
