The Franklinton Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklinton will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
Franklinton can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Southern Nash 63-32 at home. Franklinton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Franklinton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mikayla Taborn, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taborn has scored all season. Rihanna Hunt was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Roanoke Rapids suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Rocky Mount at home and fell 64-11. Roanoke Rapids has struggled against Rocky Mount recently, as their game on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Roanoke Rapids saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alexis Bednarczyk, who scored five points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniah Daniels, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Roanoke Rapids struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rocky Mount racked up 16 assists.
Franklinton pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Roanoke Rapids, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Franklinton strolled past Roanoke Rapids when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 53-38. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
