Recap: United Longhorns vs. Taft Raiders
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the United Longhorns had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 35-28 victory over Taft. Winning may never get old, but United sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
United's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Atzel Chavez Jr., who threw for 318 yards and five touchdowns. Alek Leven also helped out as he racked up 162 receiving yards.
United's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Taft, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
United will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against San Benito at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (San Benito is ranked 280th, while United is ranked 290th). Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
