Baseball Game Preview: Purdue Polytechnic Techies vs. Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils

The Purdue Polytechnic Techies will head out to take on the Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Purdue Polytechnic will be strutting in after a win while Indianapolis Shortridge will be coming in after a defeat.

On Wednesday, Purdue Polytechnic got the win against Tindley by a conclusive 15-2. The Techies haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Indianapolis Shortridge might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-3 to Indianapolis Arsenal Technical, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

Indianapolis Shortridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Edmondson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Josh Sargeant also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Purdue Polytechnic now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything went Purdue Polytechnic's way against Indianapolis Shortridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Purdue Polytechnic made off with a 15-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Techies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
