Softball Game Recap: Charlottesville Black Knights vs. Staunton Storm

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Charlottesville and Staunton, and Staunton kept the tradition alive. The Black Knights might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 22-12 to the Storm, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Storm this season, with their most recent defeat being a 22-12 loss on Monday.

Kylee Gentry was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Alanna Oliver, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Charlottesville's loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Staunton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlottesville will take on Albemarle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.33 runs per game on average), something the Black Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Staunton, they will challenge Buffalo Gap at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
