Basketball Recap: Latin Romans vs. Morgan Park Academy Warriors

Make it nine blowout wins for the Latin Romans this season. They blew past Morgan Park Academy, posting a 64-34 win on the road. Latin's victory was all the more impressive since the Warriors were averaging only 27.73 points allowed on the season.

Despite the loss, Morgan Park Academy saw an underclassman step up: Tiara Williams scored 22 points along with six steals and five assists. That was a full 64.7% of Morgan Park Academy's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cecelia Drown, who scored ten points.

The win (which was Latin's third in a row) raised their record to 14-10. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.3 points. As for Morgan Park Academy, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Latin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Regina Dominican's defense has only allowed 27.7 points per game this season, so the Romans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Morgan Park Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Stars at 5:00 p.m. on February 7th. Universal is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
