Baseball Game Preview: Conant Cougars vs. Hersey Huskies

The Conant Cougars will challenge the Hersey Huskies at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Conant is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Conant came up short against Palatine and fell 9-5.

Arjun Patel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Hersey has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.15 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They fell just short of Prospect by a score of 10-9.

Bennett McNeill was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Sokan, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Conant's loss dropped their record down to 7-6-1. As for Hersey, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-2-1.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Conant hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Hersey struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Conant beat Hersey 6-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
