Baseball Game Preview: Ellet Orangemen vs. Crestwood Red Devils

Ellet is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Crestwood is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Orangemen will host the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ellet is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Firestone hit Ellet with a 12-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Orangemen lost 13-4 to the Falcons.

Keaton McKeel and Cullen McKeel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Keaton went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Cullen went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Austin Roach, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Crestwood hadn't done well against Kirtland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Hornets. The game was the first time the Red Devils have beaten the Hornets on their field since April 15, 2022.

Crestwood is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Ellet, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.
