Nielson wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Syracuse was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Layton only posted six assists.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was BrynDee Kozisek, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindsey Thurgood, who posted nine points along with seven boards and three blocks.
Syracuse pushed their record up to 16-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Layton, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Syracuse wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-38 win against Weber on the 4th. As for Layton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-41 defeat against Davis on the 4th.
