Softball Recap: Wes-Del's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Wes-Del barely beat Southern Wells the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors blew past the Raiders 6-0 on Wednesday. Considering the Warriors have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Bailee West, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Southern Wells off the board. West has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marley Bertram, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Tori Ward, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The win (which was Wes-Del's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Southern Wells, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Wes-Del wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 25-8 win against Monroe Central on the 24th. As for Southern Wells, they have also already played their next match, a 7-3 loss against Adams Central on the 24th.
