Volleyball Game Preview: Decatur Christian Warriors vs. Cornerstone Christian Cyclones

The Decatur Christian Warriors will face off against the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cornerstone Christian took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Decatur Christian, who comes in off a win.

Decatur Christian took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past Urbana University 2-1.

Decatur Christian was actually outscored in aggregate across those three sets (64-62), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 12-25, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of DeLand-Weldon. Cyclones fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Tuesday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Cornerstone Christian sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-13, 17-25, 25-21.

The victory got Decatur Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Cornerstone Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Decatur Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Cornerstone Christian in their previous matchup back in September of 2016, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
