Southwestern were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Staunton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Southwestern has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10-1 record this season. As for Staunton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-1.

Southwestern didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Gillespie on the 24th. As for Staunton, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Carlinville on the 24th.
