Football Game Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Chula Vista Spartans

The Del Norte Nighthawks will face off against the Chula Vista Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chula Vista took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Del Norte, who comes in off a win.

Del Norte will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 13 points on September 5th, then bounced right back against Brawley on Friday. The Nighthawks blew past the Wildcats 37-7. The Nighthawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Del Norte's defense made their presence known, laying out CJ Retutal. three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jaidon Samuels, Brody Jundt, and Mason Lipumano, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Chula Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Olympian, falling 38-9.

Del Norte will have to contain Isaiah Heard as he made an impact in Chula Vista's last game. He rushed for 80 yards and one score.

While Chula Vista came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Olympian: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Michael Marquez and Oberon Tamashiro, who each logged one passes deflected. Chula Vista wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 25%.

The win got Del Norte back to even at 2-2. As for Chula Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
