Baseball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Yellville-Summit Panthers. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Grady Pitcock and Hayden Long did some serious damage despite the final result: Pitcock went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Long went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Long is becoming a predictor of Mountain View's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't). George Rector also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Yellville-Summit, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mountain View is set to take on their familiar foe Bergman at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Yellville-Summit will square off against rival Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
