Volleyball Recap: Hinsdale Central Takes a Loss

Hinsdale Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Andrew Thunderbolts. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbolts apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Hinsdale Central may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 21 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21.

Bjorn Vinje paced Hinsdale Central's offense, picking up 11 kills. Vinje got some help from Harry Hughes and his 23 assists.

Hinsdale Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Andrew, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-15 record this season.

Hinsdale Central and Andrew could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Red Devils (ranked 123rd) will meet Lake Park (ranked seventh) at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Andrew will take on Lincoln-Way West at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (141 vs. 31).
