Recap: Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights vs. Anacostia Indians

On Saturday, the Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights faced the Anacostia Indians in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Friendship Collegiate Academy walked away with a 61-52 victory over Anacostia. Winning may never get old, but Friendship Collegiate Academy sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Friendship Collegiate Academy found their leader in underclassman Madyson Crawford, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crawford has scored all season. Another player making a difference was London Gailbraith, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Despite the loss, Anacostia saw an underclassman step up: Nayjah Duvall dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 34.6% of Anacostia's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of LaNiya Jackson, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Friendship Collegiate Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. As for Anacostia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-12.

Friendship Collegiate Academy will head out on the road to face off against Parkside at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Parkside comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 13 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Anacostia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
