Volleyball Recap: Mendota Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Mendota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kewanee Boilermakers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Boilermakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Kewanee scored at least 19 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-19.

Despite the defeat, Mendota saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abby Delao had eight digs and three assists.

Leading Kewanee to victory were Claire Taylor and Bailey VanWinkle. Taylor had nine digs, while VanWinkle had four digs. That's the most digs Taylor has posted over her last six contests.

Mendota's loss dropped their record down to 5-27-1. As for Kewanee, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-15-1 record this season.

Mendota wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Sandwich on the 23rd. As for Kewanee, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Rockridge on the 23rd.
