Recap: Coahoma County Red Panthers vs. North Panola Cougars
It was a good run, but the Coahoma County Red Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to North Panola. Coahoma County lost against North Panola in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-48 score last time.
Several Red Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Hearns, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Hearns set a new season high mark in steals with five. Another player making a difference was Harlem Bell, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Coahoma County's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for North Panola, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coahoma County will take on Grenada at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grenada will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Coahoma County is ranked 31st). As for North Panola, they will play host again and welcome Holly Springs, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
