Volleyball Recap: Incline Highlanders vs. Pershing County Mustangs
After a string of five wins, Incline's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Pershing County Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Highlanders have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as their game on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Incline started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-13, 16-14.
Raegan Burrows was her usual excellent self, getting 66 digs, 33 kills, three aces, and a block for Pershing County. Burrows is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Arya Garland, who had 52 digs.
Incline's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4. As for Pershing County, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 24-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Incline will face off against Oasis Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. After both having extra time off, Pershing County and Yerington will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pershing County is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road.
