Basketball Recap: Monsignor Donovan Catholic Takes a Loss

Monsignor Donovan Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the Westminster Christian Academy Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-35 two weeks ago.

Westminster Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Townsend, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Townsend has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. Reed Carson was another key player, going 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and four steals.

Monsignor Donovan Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Edmund Burke Academy the next time they take the court. Monsignor Donovan Catholic will host Edmund Burke Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Westminster Christian Academy will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
