Softball Recap: College Place Starts off Right with Win over Wahluke

College Place gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Wahluke Warriors as the College Place Hawks made off with a 31-6 win. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Rio Hayes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hayes was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Kenadie Schreindl was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Audrey Schilds was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Wahluke is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

College Place will have a chance to go back-to-back against Wahluke: the pair will be back at it again later today.
