Basketball Recap: Cuba Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Cara Toledo and Denale Sandoval

Cuba was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 67-42 to the Newcomb Skyhawks. The Rams lost against the Skyhawks in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 60-59 score last time.

Cuba's loss came despite strong showings from Denale Sandoval and Cara Toledo. Sandoval went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points and seven boards, while Toledo posted 11 points.

Cuba's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Newcomb, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.

Cuba has already played their next game, a 55-7 win against Coronado on the 16th. As for Newcomb, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 43-32 victory against Thoreau on the 14th.
