The Bluff Dale Bobcats will face off against Mount Calm at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bluff Dale knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Mount Calm likes a good challenge.
If Bluff Dale beats Mount Calm with 68 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Bobcats simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Kopperl 68-16. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by 41 points or more this season.
Alex Saucedo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 188 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also picking up 47 receiving yards and one TD. Josiah Rogers was in the mix too, providing Bluff Dale with one score.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jace Coffman, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Mount Calm hadn't done well against Bynum recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Mount Calm strolled past Bynum with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. The win made it back-to-back victories for Mount Calm.
Mount Calm found their leader in sophomore Trey Walker, who rushed for 279 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 62 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes. Those 279 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Walker. Another passer making a difference was Mason Carmean, who threw for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mount Calm was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Bluff Dale's record is now 9-1. As for Mount Calm, their record now sits at 8-2.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Bluff Dale has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mount Calm struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 214.2 rushing yards.
