Basketball Recap: Enterprise Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ja'kye Rawls and Trevor Smith

Enterprise was the 53-52 winner over Chico when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Enterprise Hornets fell just short of the Chico Panthers by a score of 67-64 on Thursday. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Enterprise's loss came despite strong showings from Trevor Smith and Ja'Kye Rawls. Smith went 5 for 11 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds, while Rawls went 8 of 19 en route to 25 points. Rawls is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Scheel, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Magnus Nielsen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chico, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Costantino Thompson was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Enterprise's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Chico, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.

Enterprise has already played their next matchup, a 79-72 victory against West Valley on the 27th. As for Chico, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Chico Panthers take on the Foothill Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Foothill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.8 points per game this season.
