Basketball Recap: Brayant Corona Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

Dunbar hadn't done well against South Fort Myers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Dunbar Tigers managed a 73-68 victory over the South Fort Myers Wolfpack. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 57-54 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Dunbar got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brayant Corona out in front who went 7 for 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Corona a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Cobb, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds.

Despite the loss, South Fort Myers still got an impressive performance from Ja?Mahdi Ward, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Ward has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 20 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Charles JaCkson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Dunbar's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10. As for South Fort Myers, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Dunbar will challenge Lehigh at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dunbar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season. As for South Fort Myers, they will take on Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Fort Myers also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 58.5 points per game.
