Soccer Recap: Newman Smith Comes Up Short

Newman Smith lost against Wakeland back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Newman Smith Trojans fell just short of the Wakeland Wolverines by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 668th, while the Wolverines are ranked third).

Newman Smith dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Wakeland, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0-1.

Newman Smith will host The Colony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newman Smith is facing The Colony at the right time seeing as The Colony is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Wakeland, they will venture away from home to challenge Highland Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few goals on average, (Wakeland: 0.4, Highland Park: 0.3) so any goals scored will be well earned.
