Basketball Recap: Rockledge Takes a Loss

Rockledge lost against Viera back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rockledge Raiders had to suffer through a 54-16 loss at the hands of the Viera Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Hawks are ranked 94th).

Despite the loss, Rockledge still got an impressive performance from Jordyn Bradley, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points and six steals. Bradley has been hot recently, having posted six or more steals the last three times she's played.

Viera found their leader in freshman Demi Reck, who posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleyah Mcfadden, who put up 11 points.

Rockledge's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Viera, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Rockledge will take on DeLand in a tournament on Friday. DeLand has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 179 points over their last three contests. As for Viera, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eau Gallie at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
