Basketball Game Preview: Millburn Millers vs. Bloomfield Bengals

The Millburn Millers will venture away from home to challenge the Bloomfield Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Millburn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Millburn was able to grind out a solid victory over Cranford, taking the game 71-59.

Millburn can attribute much of their success to Chace Redler, who went 8 of 16 en route to 27 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Chase Plotkin, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 27 points. The matchup was Redler's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jared Barishaw, who posted nine points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Hudson Catholic, falling 57-33. While losing is never fun, the Bengals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Hawks are ranked eighth).

Bloomfield has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Millburn, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-5.

Millburn took their victory against Bloomfield when the teams last played back in January of 2022 by a conclusive 60-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Millburn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
