Volleyball Recap: Musselman Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with James Wood

Musselman is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of James Wood. The Applemen took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonels. The Applemen were not able to make up for their loss to the Colonels from their previous meeting back in September of 2023.

Despite the loss, Musselman still got an impressive performance from Bianca Hutzler, who had five digs and two aces. Gracie Ganse also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Musselman and nudges their season record down to 6-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-0 Riverside (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 100% over those games). As for James Wood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Musselman has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Dominion on the 30th. As for James Wood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Riverside on the 30th.
