Basketball Recap: Mercy Mcauley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mercy McAuley can now relate to. They took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Archbishop Alter Knights. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Knights are ranked 72nd).

When it comes to explaining why Mercy McAuley lost on Saturday, don't look at Haley Murphy. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-11 en route to 13 points and five steals. Murphy has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last four times she's played. Ady Kreimer was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Mercy McAuley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Archbishop Alter, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-8.
