Meanwhile, Cozad strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Holdrege as they made off with a 73-51 win. Fans of the Haymakers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Cozad's win came from a few key players Cambridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kellen Shoemaker, who shot 57% from the field en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chayden Hoffmaster, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds.
The victory got Cambridge back to even at 2-2. As for Cozad, their record is now 4-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cambridge has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Cozad struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cambridge took a serious blow against Cozad in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 79-38. Thankfully for the Trojans, Noah Shoemaker (who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
