Football Recap: Santa Clara Saints vs. Carpinteria Warriors
Santa Clara extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They were beaten by the Carpinteria Warriors 55-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 52-7 back in September.
Adam Villanueva threw for 76 yards and one TD. Collin Forty was his top target, picking up 48 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Justin Munoz rushed for 56 yards.
As for Carpinteria, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Carpinteria was led to victory by Chris Jaimes and Isaac Neri. Jaimes gained 98 total yards and three touchdowns, while Neri rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Another big playmaker for the Warriors was Drew Filippini, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Coming up, Santa Clara will take on Nordhoff at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Saints will need to watch out since the Rangers have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. As for Carpinteria, they will square off against Grace at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
