Baseball Game Preview: Milton Red Hawks vs. Sun Prairie West Wolves

The Milton Red Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Sun Prairie West Wolves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Milton is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Milton gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against DeForest by a score of 7-3.

Karson Lueck looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Cole, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Carter Thompson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Milton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Sun Prairie West beat Madison West 6-1 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly five runs.

Milton pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sun Prairie West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

Milton couldn't quite finish off Sun Prairie West in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Red Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
