Basketball Preview: Chittenango Bears vs. Westhill Warriors

Chittenango and the Warriors are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Chittenango Bears will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Westhill Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

Chittenango unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 52-45 to Institute of Tech. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chittenango has scored all season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jack Lamphere, who scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bernardo Bortovski, who scored 12 points.

Meanwhile, Westhill came tearing into Thursday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Cortland 69-50. Given Westhill's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Purple Tigers are ranked 579th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chittenango's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Westhill, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.

Chittenango came up short against the Warriors when the teams last played back in January, falling 84-77. Will Chittenango have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
