Baseball Recap: Downtown Doral Comes Up Short

Downtown Doral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-3 to the Mater Bay Academy Rays.

Downtown Doral saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madden Perez, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Alberto Mardelli also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Downtown Doral's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Mater Bay Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9.

Downtown Doral and Mater Bay Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Downtown Doral (ranked 505th) will meet iMater Charter (ranked 220th) at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Downtown Doral has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Mater Bay Academy will face off against Coral Shores at 3:00 p.m. on April 2nd down 397 places (564 vs. 167).
