League recap: La Jolla Country Day's league-best three wins lead to standings climb

Coastal - South league recap: 3/13/13

Top honors in the league this week go to La Jolla Country Day, which finished with three wins overall, good for best in the league. The Torreys beat Steele Canyon 13-7, San Ysidro 5-4 and Point Loma 6-0.

Jake Glasser was the best pitcher in Coastal - South this week, leading Parker. He struck out seven batters this week.

La Jolla Country Day gave up just five walks last week, ensuring that it held on to the top spot in the league in that category with only eight allowed for the season.

There were eight hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. The group was paced by Keaton Weisz, who collected five hits in seven at bats for a .714 average.

John Gamble's five RBIs this week were tops in the league. For the year, he has racked up ten RBIs, good for first in the league.



Tommy Edman drove in four runners on Friday in the Torreys' 13-7 victory over the Cougars. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.

Gamble threw a shutout as he led the Eagles to victory over Fallbrook, 7-0, on Monday. He struck out ten, allowing three hits.
