Basketball Game Preview: Tiftarea Academy Panthers vs. Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors

The Tiftarea Academy Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Tiftarea Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

While Tiftarea Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past Georgia Christian with points to spare back in December of 2024, taking the game 56-42. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Generals are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Southwest Georgia Academy hadn't done well against Terrell Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Southwest Georgia Academy skirted past Terrell Academy 50-47.

Southwest Georgia Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Tiftarea Academy, their record is now 6-1.

Tiftarea Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Southwest Georgia Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 50-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tiftarea Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
