Football Preview: Brown County Hornets vs. Camp Point Central Panthers
Brown County hasn't had much luck against Camp Point Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hornets will head out to square off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated after five games, but that won't be the case come Friday.
On Friday, everything came up roses for Brown County against Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia as the squad secured a 42-8 win. Fans of the Hornets have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Meanwhile, while Camp Point Central put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Unity/Seymour. The Panthers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Mustangs 43-0. Give the Panthers' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Camp Point Central's win came from a few key players Brown County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Curtis Rigg, who rushed for 113 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 84 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Marco Rodriguez, who gained 83 total yards and two touchdowns.
Brown County's record is now 5-0. As for Camp Point Central, their record now sits at an identical 5-0.
Things could have been worse for Brown County, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 30-14 loss to Camp Point Central in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Panthers' Kadin Niekamp, who rushed for 150 yards and a pair of scores.
