Basketball Recap: Sylmar's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Sylmar had lost ten straight headed into Monday's matchup, but Andrew Galvez didn't let it get to 11. The Sylmar Spartans walked away with a 71-58 win over the Marshall Eagles on Monday thanks in part to Galvez, who went 14 of 24 on his way to 36 points in addition to five boards and three steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Reyes, who posted 12 points. Those 12 points gave him a new career-high.

Sylmar's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Marshall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-12.

Sylmar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 84-63 defeat against Franklin on the 2nd. As for Marshall, they will welcome Rosemead at 6:30 p.m. on January 8th.
