Dawson Judd had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 307 yards and six touchdowns on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 31 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Benson's success: the team is 6-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Rawley Evans did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 112 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Benson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Benson's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Abraham Figuroa and Tyson Kilpatrick, who racked up five sacks between them. Benson got some further help from Andrew Workman: he picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Phoenix Christian never let their opponents score last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tonopah Valley 35-0.
Benson better keep an eye on Gio Young. He was instrumental in Phoenix Christian's win, rushing for 119 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries. Young's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Kevin Palafox helped out on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Phoenix Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jude House. Another thorn in Tonopah Valley's side was Daniel Sanchez, who picked up two sacks and made eight total tackles.
Benson's record now sits at 7-4. As for Phoenix Christian, their record is now 8-2.
Benson took a serious blow against Phoenix Christian when the teams last played back in August, falling 49-14. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
