Soccer Game Preview: La Marque vs. Sweeny

La Marque is 0-4 against Sweeny since February of 2023 but things could change on Saturday. The La Marque Cougars will host the Sweeny Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

La Marque is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to Columbia.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Sweeny's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stafford.

Sweeny's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5. As for La Marque, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

La Marque suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Sweeny in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point La Marque was down 5-1.
