Softball Recap: St. Vincent-St. Mary Wins Going Away Against Cloverleaf

St. Vincent-St. Mary barely beat Cloverleaf the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fighting Irish put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 15-6 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Fighting Irish, who have now won three matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Alli Zajac made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Zajac was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avarie Mays was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Ella Kim was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

St. Vincent-St. Mary kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got St. Vincent-St. Mary back to even at 5-5. As for Cloverleaf, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

St. Vincent-St. Mary will face off against Rock Hill at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cloverleaf, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Springfield at 5:00 p.m.
