Baseball Recap: Gateway Panthers vs. Liberty Chargers
Gateway lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Liberty, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Gateway Panthers put the hurt on the Liberty Chargers with a sharp 17-7 win on Tuesday. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ian Colon was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Gateway is 3-1 when Colon allowsthree or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Colon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Angel Escobar was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Joel Carmona, who scored three runs and stole Two bases.
Gateway now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Liberty, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
When Gateway and Liberty next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Gateway will try to stop Heritage's six-game winning streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gateway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. Similarly, Liberty will challenge Innovation and their four-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on March 24th.
