Softball Recap: South San Antonio Gets the Win

South San Antonio won the last time they faced Southside and things went their way on Friday too. The South San Antonio Bobcats walked away with a 4-1 win over the Southside Cardinals. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.

Southside's batters probably weren't too happy with Catalina Bonilla, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (she gave up zero walks). Bonilla has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leia Laque was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Christina Guerra, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

South San Antonio's record now sits at 9-6. As for Southside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, South San Antonio and Southside will both be playing MacArthur the next time they take the field. Southside will host MacArthur at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, while South San Antonio will head out to face them at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
